View serviceTorn between Swedish and Deep Tissue at our Southside Corpus Christi spa? Here is the plain difference, who each one suits, and how to pick based on how you feel today.

Book Swedish when you want gentle, full-body relaxation or you are new to massage. Book Deep Tissue when your shoulders are knotted, your back is stiff, or you like to feel firm, focused pressure. Both cost $50 for 30 minutes or $70 for 60 at 2033 Foot Massage. Still unsure? Chat with us and we will help you decide.
Ask ten people in Corpus Christi what kind of massage they book and most will name one of two: Swedish or Deep Tissue. They are also the two services our front desk gets asked to compare most often. The difference is easy once you know what each is built to do, so here is a straightforward guide — no jargon, just what to expect and how to choose.
Swedish massage is the gliding, oil-based style with long strokes and light-to-medium pressure. The rhythm is slow and even, covering the back, shoulders, arms, and legs in turn, and the point is to let your whole body settle rather than to dig into any one spot.
It suits nights when calm matters more than fixing something. After a week of back-to-back shifts, a stretch of poor sleep, or a stressful run at work, an hour of Swedish is a reliable reset. First-time guests almost always start here because there are no surprises — nothing presses hard, nothing catches you off guard. A lot of our regulars from the La Palmera area book it on a standing schedule simply to take the edge off the week.

Deep Tissue slows down further and presses deeper. Your therapist works into the thicker layers of muscle along the back, shoulders, and neck, spending real time on the knots that build up after days of driving, lifting, or hunching over a laptop.
Firm is the goal, not painful. A good therapist reads how your muscles respond and adjusts pressure on the fly, so tell us the moment something feels like too much. If you carry a permanent band of tightness across the upper back, if your job keeps you on your feet on concrete, or if you simply like to feel the work happening, Deep Tissue is the better match. Guests often notice afterward that their shoulders sit lower and turning the head feels freer.

Picture how you want to feel walking back out to your car. If the answer is “calm and unhurried,” choose Swedish. If it is “looser shoulders and less of that knot,” choose Deep Tissue. That single question settles it for most people.
New to massage? Start with Swedish. Desk-job neck, driver's back, or a shoulder that hauls gear all day? Deep Tissue. Somewhere between the two, which describes most guests, means you tell us how your week has gone and we suggest a place to begin. You can switch next visit without any fuss, and plenty of regulars alternate — Swedish one week, Deep Tissue the next, depending on what the body is asking for.
Both services share the same simple rate: $50 for a 30-minute session and $70 for a full hour. Thirty minutes is enough for a targeted reset; the full hour gives room to relax completely or to blend gentle full-body work with firmer attention on one area.
When you are ready, chat with us or call (361) 695-1797, mention Swedish, Deep Tissue, or “help me choose,” and we will take care of the rest. We are open 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day of the week, same-day openings are common, and the lot outside Suite H1 on Airline Rd has free parking.
If you keep just one line in your head, make it this: Swedish soothes, Deep Tissue works. Swedish glides across the muscle; Deep Tissue presses into it. Swedish leaves you floaty, Deep Tissue leaves you loosened. Both are good — they answer different days.
Think about your week, too. After stress, poor sleep, or a stretch of feeling wound tight, Swedish is the gentle exhale. After long hours at a desk, a big move, a weekend of yard work in the heat, or a training block that left everything stiff, Deep Tissue earns its place. If the tightness is one particular knot rather than a whole region, Trigger Point may be the sharper tool — ask and we will explain.
You are never locked in. Book one, decide partway through that you would rather go firmer or softer, and simply say so; your therapist adjusts in the moment. Both styles happen in the same private rooms with the same simple pricing, so the real decision is just how you want the hour to feel. Browse the full list on our services page, or tell us how your body feels and let us point you the right way. Either choice is a good one here on the Southside.

Swedish. The gentle, gliding style is the easiest introduction.
Deep Tissue, or a mostly Swedish session with firmer work on the back. Tell us where it is worst.
Yes. A 60-minute session leaves room for relaxing full-body work plus firmer focus on one area.
Most first-time guests are happiest with Swedish: lighter, flowing, and easy to relax into. Choose deep tissue if you already know you have stubborn knots and prefer firm pressure. Either way, we adjust to you.
